Scar care, in brief

How scars form

A scar is the result of collagen build-up and remodelling during healing. Scars cannot be erased, but care can improve how they look and feel.

Why silicone

Silicone forms a semi-occlusive film that helps retain moisture and soften the scar — a widely used first-line topical option in scar management.

When to start

Usually once the wound has fully closed and any scab has come off naturally. For surgical incisions, ask your surgeon first.

Cleaning and storing sheeting

Rinse gently with water or a dedicated cleanser, air-dry, then store on the original liner away from heat and sunlight.

Sun protection

New scars are sensitive to UV. Use the SPF gel or physical cover during the day to limit darkening.

Common mistakes

Waiting too long, ignoring wear time, or switching routines too often — consistency is what carries the result.
